Oh La La. Returned from Spain where live is grand, the olive oils most pure and virgin, the night life exciting and invigorating, the culture mixed, blended and cohesive, the people gracious and helpful and the buildings solid to withstand centuries of upheavals and change. The Arab baths were pure and cleansing, the food fresh, ample and tasteful. I long to return.
Charles Whitlock of Walkaway Treks explored the hiking trails, the architecture and culture of fascinating Moorish Spain and the famous Rock of Gibraltar.
Andalusia, in southern Spain, is a walker’s paradise. It is home to the snow-capped Sierra Nevadas, volcanic landscapes, rock strewn Mediterranean coastlines and hills dotted with white villages and olive groves. Andalusia is the heart of Moorish Spain with its unique architecture including such sites as Seville’s Alcazar castle, Cordoba’s Mezquita Mosque-Cathedral and Granada’s Alhambra Palace. On the southwest corner of Andalusia lies Gibraltar.

Departure to Sierra Nevada Natural Park located around 80 km from Granada, returning to Granada for overnight.

Departure to Doña Mecia where we will do a 10 Km walk to Baena. Continue to Cordoba.

Cordoba Walking tour around the old quarter where we will discover a beautiful network of alleyways, squares and white-washed courtyards surrounding the Great Mosque-Cathedral that reflects the importance of the city in the Middle Ages and the symbol of the city.

Departure to Medina Azahara and will walk a trail of app. 9 km (3 hrs). Continue to SEVILLE by bus.

Seville Walking city tour, discovering the innumerable monuments that Seville’s rich history including the awesome cathedral (the third largest in the world), the Giralda tower, the wonderful palace of the Reales Alcázares, the magical Barrio of Santa Cruz with its narrow streets, the Maestranza bullfighting ring, the passion for Flamenco and the perfume of orange blossoms on every corner.

Departure to Antequera to the walking trail El Torcal de Antequera (easy nice trail of around 6 km, 1h40 walking).

Departure by bus, to do a very well-known trail called "Caminito del Rey". Continue to Costa Del Sol.
- Monday, March 27, 2017 - COSTA DEL SOL (B, L, D)
Full day excursion to Gibraltar. The group can do Gibraltar visit walking including the Natural Park. It is a walk of around 10 Km, 5 hours, 90% of the walk will be non-urban.
- Tuesday, March 28, 2017 - MALAGA Airport + Departure. (B)
Transfer to Malaga Airport for our connecting return to Toronto.
